General race info
-
We have a distance for everyone. The Half Marathon is the big scenic challenge, the 10K is rolling but very doable, the 5K is a perfect first race or PR attempt, and the untimed 5K Walk (our Paws Walk) is all about the views, the family, and the dog.
Race Elevation Gain Notes
Half Marathon: ±1,089 ft
10K: ±508 ft
5K: ±305 ft

The race start and finish area is located near the Northern Arizona Healthcare on Navoti Drive in West Sedona.

Every participant gets a race bib, race t-shirt, a collapsible race cup for our cupless course, and a clear gear drop bag.
Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K finishers also earn a finisher medal.
-
No minimum for the 5K, 5K Walk, or 10K, so bring the whole family.

Travel & WEATHER
-
For mostt runners, the best option is Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), located about 120 miles (a 2-hour drive) south of Sedona. PHX offers the most flight options, better prices, and plenty of car rental choices.
If you prefer a shorter drive to town, you can look into Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG). It is only 25 miles (a 40-minute drive) north of Sedona via the scenic Oak Creek Canyon, though flights are more limited and typically require an added connection.
-
Our Lodging Partners page has discounted rates at several local hotels, including some right near the start line. Book early, because Sedona fills up fast.
-
Winter in Sedona is very mild, perfect for running! Race-day highs are usually in the 50s and 60s, but mornings can dip into the 30s with a chance of light precipitation. Dress in layers you can shed once the sun hits the canyon, and stash them at gear drop.
04
training & course info
-
All three courses are paved and rolling, with the climbs paying you back in views and a downhill cruise to the finish.
Half Marathon: Gains and loses 1,089 ft, topping out at 4,645 ft just before the turnaround on Boynton Pass Road.
10K: About 508 ft of gain. A short downhill, a steady climb to 4,608 ft at mile 2.7, then mostly downhill home.
5K: About 305 ft of gain. One steady climb out, one cruise back.
-
The course peaks at 4,645 feet, so if you're coming from near sea level, you may feel the thinner, drier air. Hydrate well in the days before, arrive a day early if you can, and let the first mile set your pace.
-
Interactive maps and GPX files for every distance are on Plotaroute, free to view and load onto most GPS watches.
-
Check out our official training plans at Runna, the official Training Partner of RunSedona. All RunSedona athletes will enjoy a free 2-week trial of the Runna app.
